Who Invented #TrapRap?

This debate will never end because theres too many positions to base your answer on. But the fact of the matter is these 3 iconic trap rappers paved the way for the any trap rapper we listen to today. We all know how big of an impact they’ve made, but who actually invented Trap Rap? Gucci Man La Flare, Tha Snowman or Tip? Let’s break down some facts and actually get an answer.

August 19, 2003, urban legend T.I. blessed us with his second debut album, Trap Musik, which he proclaims that date being the “birth of trap music”. The album had such gems like, “Rubber Band Man,” “24’s,” and “Be Easy,” just to name a few. That album definitely was a milestone in Trap Rap history, and back then I don’t think we realized the importance of that album title having such relevancy to today’s trap music. Does T.I.’s “Trap Musik” prove him to have invented Trap Rap?

Flash foward 2 year’s later, April 13, 2005, Gucci Mane drops his first major single, “Icy”, featuring none other than Jeezy, who was also breaking out at the same time. The single is a self proclaimed trap classic, not only because both these artist had a breakout on the same song, but it started a feud over royalties between the two that never seemed to be get worked out to this day. 13 years later, Gucci and Jeezy have given us countless hits and project that we all know and love and reasons as to why we can’t decided who is better between the two.

The question still remains, who invented Trap Rap? What do you base your answer on? Music catalog? Radio play? Albums sold? Net worth? Below is a comparison between all 3 artist based on the above mentioned categories, you be the judge.
